Home Games Admission is $5.00 Gates generally open about 6:00 pm . You must enter through a metal detector. Games start at 7:30 pm . The first 2007 game is August 17. Refer to calendar for specific arrival times each week. Students should eat before they arrive back at school. The home football game timeline is generally as follows: Arrive at school – rehearse as needed per Mr. Johnson 7:00 pm - line up and march down to football field 7:15 pm – band takes the field for the National Anthem and Fight song. Band parents are needed to act as chaperone for the band and for assisting with concessions for home games. Parents acting as chaperones may need to be in the band room with the band and escort them down to the field. The parents will enter with the band and will not have to pay admission to that game. If you leave the stadium during the game, you may have to pay to get back in. Parents are needed to assist with concessions. We have a tent near the end zone selling cotton candy, and a tent near the gate selling BBQ sandwiches, tea, and 50/50 raffle tickets. Click here to view the 2007 Sign-Up sheet (Updated 9/11/07) to help out at the football games, If there is a game that you will be able to help out, please contact Eddie Wimberly to sign up. The band is seated near the 50 yard line. Parents may sit in adjacent sections, but not with the band. No other non-band members should sit in the band section. The color guard lines up along the back of the band section and participates in cheers and pep music. The band plays pep music during the 1st, 2nd and 4th quarters. They usually have a break during the 3rd quarter. Around the 4 minute mark of the 2nd quarter, the band lines up and marches to the field to perform the halftime show. After their performance, the band marches back to their seats, leaves their instruments, and then will be dismissed by the band director or drum major for their break. Students are typically expected back in their seats at the two minute mark of the third quarter. This does not allow much time to get to the concession stand, bathroom, etc. The privilege of 3rd quarter break may be lost if it is not respected. The band plays during the 4th quarter and after the game ends as the bleachers empty out. The band then lines up and marches back to the band room. Band members are released by class by the band director to put their instruments and equipment away. They are not free to go until they are released. The band room must be neat and orderly before anyone leaves. Football Etiquette Bands do not and should not play/cheer when a player is “down” on the field with a potential injury. When a player comes off the field after an injury, if he is able to acknowledge, he should be cheered no matter which team he is from. It is imperative that the band watch the drum major for queues that they are going to play or that they are going to stop playing. Teams have been penalized for their bands playing at inappropriate times. Please be respectful of schools’ football teams, cheerleaders, color guard, and band. When the Harnett Central Band is out as a group, you represent your school. At the beginning of football season it is hot and humid. Please ensure that your student drinks lots of water at practice and at games. Band Boosters try to have a cooler at each game with water and ice for the band members. If students are going to purchase anything else, they will need several dollars. Parents are needed for the following positions: Chaperoning / Assisting the Band / Water Cooler Concessions selling and set-up / clean up Road Crew – Prop assembly and show management If you are available to help out at any of the games, please let Band Booster President Eddie Wimberly or Vice-President Laurie Jones know. Your help is greatly appreciated for whatever amount of time you can give. Away Football Games At present, the band will attend all away games except the Wilmington-Hoggard game. Away games require a bus that is often paid for by the Band Boosters. Drivers are also paid for by Band Booster funds. Away games must have permission from school administration to attend. Please encourage your student to understand that being given permission to travel to away games or away from the school at any time is a privilege and means they are ambassadors, and represent our community and school pride. Generally the band attends and plays in the stands but does not perform on the field. Exceptions to this may occur if the hosting school wants our band to play on the field. |
